It's all about people. We invest globally in startups, which hope to make a social impact, not just profits. This precisely sums up my amazing journey with Fresco Capital. Fresco Capital is an early stage venture fund with a global mindset that embraces a "people first" philosophy.
Fresco is different from other VCs in that we connect, invest, and support exceptional entrepreneurs to expand globally. The Fresco Team and their portfolio companies are all international; with a broader and more ambitious outlook, we’re able to build a cross-border network, collaborate with entrepreneurs, and discover more opportunities. No matter how high the valuation, a startup cannot survive without an exceptional team. Fresco is always looking for remarkable teams, or ones that overcome setbacks and are constantly looking to grow. Before joining Fresco, I believed investment primarily involved ROI and revenue streams. Through this internship, I’ve come to learn that venture capital can really make a positive impact to the society because it facilitates growth for startups with innovative ideas, transforming how we live our lives. Working with entrepreneurs is what really made my internship an unforgettable experience. As a Fresco Fellow, I was engaged in operations for around five portfolio companies across the globe covering Ed-Tech, Robotics, IoT, and influencer marketing. As our portfolio is mainly composed of early-stage startups, I was able to truly gain hands-on experience and add value to the operations. Working with entrepreneurs has reminded me to stay curious, think differently, and act courageously. Of course, my time at Fresco would not have been as inspiring without my mentors Tytus and Furuzonfar. We were a small team, but we worked together toward something big. I am proud to have been a Fresco Fellow because I not only appreciate its philosophy, but I was able to see it manifest.
THE "GO GLOBAL" MINDSET AND "PEOPLE FIRST" PHILOSOPHY WILL STAY WITH ME, AND KEEP INSPIRING ME TO MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT NO MATTER WHAT I DO.
Let me express my greatest gratitude to Garage Society and Fresco Capital for making the 8-week journey so remarkable! - William
