Despite being called “Digital Nomads”, I've actually been based in Hong Kong for years, which often surprises people! The name isn't about physically hopping from country to country; it reflects my philosophy of location-independent thinking and global digital strategies.
You see, being a true “digital nomad” in today's world isn't about your passport stamps rather than your mindset. It's about refusing to be confined by local market conventions or traditional approaches just because “that's how we've always done things here.” I've learned that the most innovative solutions often come from looking beyond your immediate environment and asking, “How are they solving this problem in Singapore? What's working in New York? How would a startup in Dublin approach this challenge?”
The danger of staying in your local bubble is that you start thinking everyone faces the same limitations you do. But when you expand your knowledge base—when you're constantly consuming insights from different markets, industries, and cultures—you start seeing opportunities that others miss. You begin thinking outside the box because you realise the “box” is often smaller than people think.
That's what “Digital Nomads” really represents: the mindset of someone who's mentally agile, globally curious, and never stops learning from the wider world, regardless of where they physically plant their feet.
Beyond AI Hype: Why Creativity and Human Connection Still Drive Digital Marketing Success
The future of digital marketing has always been, and will always be, about people. AI isn't news in this industry; Google and Meta have been using machine learning for ages. What's changed is that Large Language Models brought AI to the masses, making it famous and putting it in the spotlight.
You know what's funny? I think many people have realised that ChatGPT, Claude, Deepseek & Co can only help you to a certain point, mostly for time-consuming tasks that can be automated.
What really makes the difference? Creativity. Ask any LLM to write about digital marketing, and 90% of the time it'll start with "In the ever-evolving digital marketing landscape..." or some variation of that tired phrase. Go ahead, try it!
Here's what's crucial to remember: we're talking to humans, even when we only have 90 characters or less to work with. Do we want to sound like everyone else, or do we want to be that purple cow (to borrow Seth Godin's metaphor) in a field full of white sheep?
Let AI do the heavy lifting, absolutely. But never forget you're still communicating with human beings. Empathise, relate, and build genuine relationships through your campaigns. Because at the end of the day, the only truly intelligent and creative being in this AI age is the one sitting in front of the screen: you.
